The Cupboard is a family owned, second generation business. Founder, Carey Hewitt, started the Fort Collins based business in 1972, and his son, Jim, now owns it. The small store first carried a variety of baskets, pottery, and a few kitchen tools (the first sale was 3 wooden spoons for $.95). Per customer demand, The Cupboard turned its focus to the kitchen. After three expansions, The Cupboard is now one of the largest independent kitchen and home stores in the nation.
We appreciate the community who have supported us over the years. To give back, we support hundreds of non-profit organizations every year. We understand the need to take care of the environment around us. For years, The Cupboard has paid staff to ride their bikes to work, and we have been recognized by the League of American Bicyclists. We have also been recognized by Climate Wise for our environmental efforts.
