"The Stocked Kitchen"

The Stocked Kitchen Revisited

The Cupboard will be hosting Stacey Krastins on Saturday, November 19 from 1-4 p.m. She’ll be serving samples from the cookbook and will be available to chat and sign copies of her book. So we hope to see you at the store on Saturday!

In a previous post I talked about ‘The Stocked Kitchen’ and its authors, Sarah Kallio and Stacey Krastins.  Since then, their self-published cookbook has been picked up by Atria Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, which is great news for Sarah and Stacey.  The cookbook has been slightly redesigned, with the ‘Stocked Kitchen Grocery List’ added to the back of the book as tear-out sheets rather than the magnetic pad of the original book.

Though ‘The Stocked Kitchen’ has been redesigned, the fundamental concepts are intact–stock your kitchen and fridge using ‘the list’ as an ingredient guide, and cook using the recipes in the book using what you have on hand.  It’s a profoundly simple way to cook, and I would guess it’s the way home cooks used to create their meals.  As I emphasized in the previous blog, the result is less waste–you no longer need to buy hard-to-find gourmet ingredients you may use once and eventually throw away–and more efficient use of your time.
